Hey, thanks for stoppin' by the Club. Personally, I think if you want the real deal Jazz and Blues....nothin' beats Old Skool.  *party*
Marsha, I was lucky, I got to experience this (sorta) through the eyes and stories of my grandmother. She was born in Chicago in 1930 and spent most of her formative years hanging out in jazz clubs and juke joints with musicians like Louis Armstrong.

A little not-so-old, Old School: C'mon, now, there wouldn't be an Otis without the Blues...

And now, for something completely not so dissimilar...

Willie Dixon With Memphis Slim: Willie's Blues

Willie Dixon With Memphis Slim‎--Willie's Blues (Full LP) Stereo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=743jML8yQZg#)

0:01 Nervous
3:14 Good Understanding
5:29 That's My Baby
8:49 Slim's Thing
12:12 That's All I Want Baby
14:27 Don't You Tell Nobody
16:33 Youth To You
19:52 Sittin' And Cryin' The Blues
23:14 Built For Comfort
25:46 I Got A Razor
29:58 Go Easy
35:50 Move Me

A perfect fusion of Chicago Jazz and Mississippi Delta Blues...with just a hint of Texas Swing thrown in. You can hear how much fun they had recording this album...seriously. Dixon's rendition of Sittin' And Cryin' The Blues - sheer genius.

I Am The Blues

Willie Dixon

When you hear: Blues, whether you know it, or not, you’re hearin’ Willie Dixon. In my opinion, there is no other artist who has influenced the Blues, Rock And Roll, or music in general for that matter, more than Mr. Dixon. Everybody and their Cross-Eyed Cat who has ever cut a Blues or Blues-Adjacent album...has done Dixon.  From Bo Diddley, B. B. King, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Robert Johnson and Elvis Presley; to Cream, (that’s Eric Clapton, y’all) Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Rolling Stones – the list goes on. In many cases, they didn’t just borrow his lyrics – they emulated his style. When Willie Dixon says, I Am The Blues, he means it.

03 12:47 "The Seventh Son"
04 17:02 "Spoonful"
05 21:58 "I Ain't Superstitious"
06 26:01 "You Shook Me"
07 30:16 "(I'm Your) Hoochie Coochie Man"
08 35:04 "The Little Red Rooster"

Glad you're enjoying the thread, Earl. You notice I've only been posting full albums, concerts, documentaries and not simply one single song after another - that was sort of my goal for this particular thread (for me...the rest o' yous can post whatever ya want...it's a free country) There were certain songs i could find on youtube in a full concert, album, recording so i just decided that's how i would present the thread.

You're welcome, Miss E. Ya know, I had to do somethin'....can't deal with most o' this 'Modern' music...makes my ears bleed. *(must be gettn' ol' or somethin')  :tongue  :dblu

Next up for your listening pleasure - Billie Holiday (just as soon as I can dig the LP recording I found outta my youtube favorites) Stay tuned.
