Autumn Haiku

Maple shakes her curls
covering the naked earth
with shawls of copper

Crabapples fall hard
crashing into frosted soil
red comets on fire

We eat pumpkin pies
filling our hungry bellies
with warm orange love

Summer bids adieu
as Autumn takes Season's stage
kisses are exchanged

Kites float in gold skies
paper leaves tied with ribbon
tree roots envious

This is BEAUTIFUL, Sandy!

I love this line:

We eat pumpkin pies
filling our hungry bellies
with warm orange love

I had visions of autumn leaves and the fragrance of my mothers kitchen... thanks for bring back my childhood memories!

Thanks so much Cookie.  I have just started writing Haikus, was always curious about them so figured I'd give it a try.  I had to write something about pumpkin pie, I love the stuff and for some insane reason, I only eat it this time of year when I know perfectly well I could enjoy it any time.

Hey! Here I am again, behind as usual. I hadn't seen this. This is lovely. I, too, am a pumpkin pie junky from now till January.

I adore your opening line. I've been thinking of bringing back some of my haiku. I've never heard autumn/curls analogy. Love that. ':writer:'
