I would like to revive a thread that we had here once. I always thought that it inspired some really great poems.
The object: You are given a word. You write a quatrain that contains the essence of that word without actually using it.
You may use any format or pattern. The only constant is that the poem must be done in only four lines. You may use any meter, rhyme scheme, or free verse. After you put in your poem, you choose the succeeding word for the next participant.

Example:

Understanding

Empathy rolls off the fingers
Easier than the tongue.
Kind words are good words,
But the touch forever lingers.

Future

one day we are cranking a car
the next we are beeping a friend
mother nature competes for attention
one more cuppa joe before I start

Radio:

Waves zipping through the air
A technological wonder
Listening to talk spewing there
Till FCC catches a blunder.

Adroitness

Rainbows of cotton woven, between her finger tips
Never once, did she let them slip
Amazing finished objects of art
Tatting to the beat of her heart

They all thought he was uncaring
No one ever saw when he was alone

Demure

She, modest in a quiet way,
provocative, mature,
her dark eyes had so much to say,
they were her 'fishing' lure.

from her mouth words did spill
as always with no skill

she still talked from the far side

Credibility

a wise man expects nothing
while fools boost - Here I Am!
a wise man is never disappointed
while fools harbour self-rightousness.

Indignant

With silence he showed all the world
that it never mattered.
He went his way, banner unfurled
while in vain they chattered.

Resolve

One should not be as an oak tree,
unwavering firmness of character.
Look how the willow tree bends
to be as one with the nature of the wind.
