Topical solutions run
like water in the summer
heat; stained bandages
hang from humidity.
Appendages become
vestigial under the
explosive shrapnel and
midnight sorties.
There is no antidote
for stupidity; rigidity
guides rigor and
we wait with breaths
held for the inevitable
invitation.

peer to peer
segments
into parallel lines
within a circle
about a roundabout
life
sans
exit

vagabond tagger
with your cold nose, your winter
mittens, when was the final time
you sprayed dragons in Hong Kong,
circus bears in Petrograd?
the list of your undo-able cities
is tucked in your pocket like January
breath mints.

from whimsy to crawl,
a soggy heart hangs itself
upon a shipwrecked rock
and if I have it wrong, a crawling
rock shipwrecks itself upon
a hanging heart.

The eye-patched vixen
dug her stilettos into
the sand and peered
at the sky. Her smooth
skin bronzed by her
own light shimmered
in the sun.She was
the starfish mother
of them all.

In a tea cup of landscape
toy horses canter oblivious
and warriors clutch matchstick
bows, arrows made of toothpicks.

she went out
to search
to seek
to find
she went out
to clear her head
to soak up the sun
to commune with nature
she went out
down the street
down the block
down the railroad tracks
she went out
past the neighbor's house
past the grazing cattle
past the fields of wildflowers
she went out
to discover the truth of her authenticity
past the reality of her impending future
down the gaping maw of indecision
she went out...and yet -
His whistle drew her back
the slow train at midnight
that trembling in her thighs
those fluttering kisses 'cross her spine

I believe in making the world safe for our children, but not for our children's children, because I don't think children should be having sex.

she spoke in the way of her people
saying much but revealing little.
all were satisfied as they partook
of a small meal, dried fish and rice.
Full stomachs in a bamboo grove.

History is a path, for those who walk it is just another day,
but for those who follow one can only surmise what was
going through their minds and did they know they were
part of a bigger puzzle

I recognize you more from the muscles
in your back, taut and defined.
Your face is now a ghost, you are so
unknown to me now. Yet I
await a message, perhaps foolishly.
But we know I have always been desperate.

my coke bottle
strolling into nothingness
what is zen poetry
emptiness
weightless
just being

just to be
doing
