fistful of Fireball
Self-confidence
dangling recklessly
from my back pocket.

steady
my wits, my nerves.
screw up, square up
my courage, my shoulders,
stare Life straight in the eye,

alright, Motherfucker, let’s do this!

G, did you see that Al Jarreau died?

I saw that this morning. The article I read said he had finally decided to retire just two days before he died. He had been on a world tour for the last decade.

Deserts sometimes dream of water.
Forgotten rivers gleam in high noon shimmer,
rippling faintly just above the ground --
juniper sway in remnant currents,
remember seaweed and impertinent fish.

But drought came, water drained away,
fish crawled into stones to sleep.
You can find them still, if you search diligently
where incandescent sand blew in on west winds.

On cool summer nights,
clear all the way to the stars,
coyotes strangely silent -
deserts sometimes dream of water,
where great fish still swim, scorning abandoned hooks;
untouched by an absent sun, ancient scales awash in moon glow.
I believe in making the world safe for our children, but not for our children's children, because I don't think children should be having sex.

G was a good man. I was aware he had health problems and saddened to hear of his passing.
Rev 21: 3,4 gives mankind hope of relief from such tragedies.

I was very saddened to hear that G has passed.  Thank you Halo for getting in touch with me.  Gary was talented, fun, and so full of the life that he didn't get a chance to live, but he dreamed, and wrote ... and he will be missed!  He is cancer-free now ... RIP Gary

Daisy, elise, A_FRIEND, WordFeary, I've given your condolences and the Forum's to G's aunt, Freda.

I still can't believe he's gone!  :rose

Her response: "Thanks for the condolences. Glad he had friends who knew and loved him."

Daisy, thank you for getting the Alley up again. I'm relieved it went well, everything looks good.
(except for my third party photos...no fault of the board, Photobucket's fault.)
