Wings and Things

Wings and Things

In my dream I saw a pair of wings that had no chance of ever fitting.
Then I saw people flying in and out of clouds while I was just sitting.
So I looked around for help and called out loud to harps I heard playing,
while the sounds of rolling thunder let me know I was lost along the way.

I began to float without the security of being balanced with the sensation
of falling off into the void of darkness that lay far below.  I went yelling
out it seemed forever before I realized I was praying.  That forgotten art
I had neglected when all my selfish thoughts were camped at home to stay.

Then a giant book suddenly appeared before me and the pages flipped until
it stopped at my highlighted name. It showed I was too anemic to support
wings that needed strength and structure.  It read how in my youth with
my mothers guidance my foundation was unexcelled and completely prepared.

It told of how talents which we are gifted were squandered from lack of
attention like wilted flowers in the heat of summer. How I had utilized
my time on ego and the pursuit of too much personal compensation. But
I was offered another chance of restitution and I resolve to comply now.

I loved every word, the import of which I take personally.

Thank you so much Halo,  I suppose if it were not for the alley here I would not write at all now.
It takes like kind cranking out verse to inspire and kick start a poet and even then it becomes
harder as time goes by.  It seems like a hundred years ago when I could just sit down and
write as it rolled off my fingers effortlessly.   Although those days shall never return I will
always make an attempt occasionally.

I hope that's a promise,  Weave ... to keep writing ... you need to.  I look forward to reading everything you share with us.  This one is quite insightful, from and outside looking in.  I agree with Halo, loved every word.
