The Peoples Choice

The Peoples Choice

Words flowed like wine that night as poets
gathered to read verse for the assembled.
Speaking of love in bliss and love that was missed,
sonnets with bonnets and verse of  pandowdy.

Over the crowd a mantle of anticipation was gathering
as the Peoples Choice was being ushered to the mic.
Verse soon to be born, becoming charmed into magical
adventures and stroked with the brush of elegance.

Carousels turned square and birds flew upside down,
time sat frozen in the moment to frame the renown.
Twirling words closed ranks and marched into symmetrical
rhythm, dancing across halls of mesmerized intoxicated minds.

Cinnamon words and caramel too, assorted in a poets stew,
words of sugar, words of vigor, words designed to pull your trigger.
Poems that evoked spontaneous combustion of the heart,
drumming of the feet, and thundering applause from the palms.

Hurling vanilla words in combinations. Stacking lines that
required no signature to recognize, or confirmation of his
power over words and how they lived softly in his pocket.
The Peoples Choice will never let paper cry or a pen run dry.

Weave, I had no idea what a 'pandowdy' is, dictionary says it's a deep dish apple pie. It fits very nicely into the slot you placed it.
This made me smile and cringe a little, I'm thinking this guy is 'special'!  *hic*

I love this poem, well done Weave!  The thought of poets stew is very visual.  Let the words stew a bit as they weave together.  I also didn't know what a pandowdy is.  Sounds delicious!

Lets see now,  You two girls I consider Pandowdy because you are both deep
dishes and the apples of my eye.  I am glad you liked the poem and
appreciate your comments.
