At War With Words

At War With Words

I need the inspiration to kick start words so
they may populate like flowers in a lush meadow
where they can be sorted into a bouquet to present
to a new found lover.

I need to restore that old time feeling when my
smile was endless and my hunger for love insatible
Back when a sonnet redouble scrambled to escape
my fingers complete with melody highlighted with
bass and treble

I need to resurrect my ring master control over
words and have them plentiful in my pocket always
alert and battle station ready
I need to be at war with words until they gently
surrender and dance to a peaceful existence

Weave
a good poet is like a bride
Something old, something new, something borrowed
but mostly you.

I know how hard it is to find the inspiration.  What was it that used to keep us motivated to write?  The one thing that comes to mind is spending time with people who have the same things in common with you.  Your poem reminded me of that.  I love that last part where you say, " I need to be at war with words until they gently surrender and dance to a peaceful existence."

Daisy, You are correct that inspiration breeds best in an envoinrment of like kind. We can recall when someone listed a poem and it turned on a lighted path to follow. Now it is hard for me to imagine I could stream poems any time I chose.  We had such great people here and I hope they are doing well and still writing. I am happy you liked the poem.  hugs Weave
