Guitars RVs and Country Music
« on: February 22, 2018, 12:44 PM »
Guitars, RV's and Country Music

It was a karaoke marathon, one that lasted
from dusk till dawn.  I felt my throat
seize up before morning and the other singers
surrendered to the power of the all night
rampage. They danced on the asphalt until
I saw the tar separate from the gravel.

Through groggy eyes I saw stacks of worn
out shoes abandoned by blistered feet.
Some lay in hammocks outside full RVs
and the scent of peaceful exhaustion hung
suspended framed by scattered memories.

There she lay waiting in my bed still holding
onto my spare guitar as she promised. Who
was she really besides a music lover and a
drifter that selected me to be her companion
for this weekend of care free enjoyment.

While staring at her striking beauty I
felt words forming in my head, words
that needed to be penciled onto paper
and stuffed secretly into my pocket
as this old memory will never grow cold.

Words and music are the tonic of romance
while flowers and candy are just artificial
wannabes that fool your heart into believing
it can be bought like a blue light special.
Hello my love, may tomorrow bring you closer
to me.

Love the musical innuendo of "tonic" in the final stanza. A deftly tatted piece, WWeaver.
Do more bewitch me than when art is too precise in every part.

I wanted to dance, smile, and laugh ... and I wanted a pair of those worn out shoes ... to be mine ... this took me there,  love it!!!!
