Write Something

Boy, is the Alley RIP?

Let's try this to spark a little poetry.

Write a poem in the form of a letter to yourself.

The thaw inside my head seems to have subsided
and there will no miraculous epiphany today
or tomorrow. forget the onslaught
of photons from mother galaxy, forget the forgory
that is passed on until, like volunteers
we excuse ourselves one-by-one from the class
and spend time more profitably in the lavatory.

We've clearly been lied to, everything is art
if we expect another pair of ears to profit, another
set of eyes wowed. We only create, and what is is the creation.
It's the reigns nefarious beings are fighting for.
The Titanic can be re-routed, bombs can defy gravity.
And will ten seconds after you believe it.

Thanks for participating. This is super! I love these lines:
we excuse ourselves one-by-one from the class
and spend time more profitably in the lavatory.

I really enjoyed the subtle bang in the head of this piece!

note to self:
don't always trust me
i'm not always honest
and i don't like to look too deep
upsets the balance of
who i perceive me to be

note to self #2:
and yet i have to open my
eyes especially when i'm scared
see what i don't want to see
for therein lies-
what?
me
not who i think i ought to be

note to self #3:
i am never alone
even in the dark
especially in the dark
i trust You
*most important note to self*

This is super. Why don't we send this one in for this month before it closes today.

You can entitle it "sticky notes on the fridge."

My son learned at an early age
no one watches the Special Olympics,
the offer of the last piece
doesn't always match your eyes,
the family dog is making the best
of an bad situation and has been
for thousands of years.

Hi Skadee, one thing about a letter to oneself is that no one else has to understand it and yet relating to your thoughts is easy without understanding what brought them into being. If that made sense, wow!  :tongue

i'm kind of using this thread as a journal, which are kind of notes to one's self, kind of.

(random thoughts on a rainy afternoon )

Learn to say No
Stand up for yourself.
Stop being a doormat.
It's one thing to be helpful,
another to be used over
and over again, then told
to get a life.

so, today, that is just what I am doing.
Getting a life, standing up for myself
and starting to say No once in a while.

Rain always makes me thoughtful,
and it has been raining since 2am.
I love the rain, the sound on the roof-
I sleep so much better when it rains.

Writing,  keep writing, random thoughts.
Don't keep second guessing yourself
just jump in at least once to see
how the water is, and I bet you will
find it is just fine.
