Grounded
« on: July 13, 2012, 03:44 PM »
Past cobwebs hold fast
here in the now and the then.
A duality of failure hangs
like a worn theater curtain hiding
a less fated future.

Light does not escape when
the outlook is shrouded
in things best not remembered,
and the spirit is stuck on
flypaper dreams.

Anne, I like the flypaper analogy you have going on here.

How sticky is flypaper and how difficult is it to breakaway, to loosen the grip of things best left to the past?
Intense feel to this piece, Anne, heavy, cloying like flypaper.
Be careful of your thoughts; they may become words at any moment.  ~  Ira Gassen

witt- thanks for the comments, I am happy you liked it.

kay- thanks for the comment on the poem. I like my avatar too (I know you wrote that somewhere)- I am a fan of film noir.

Halo- I love the description of cloying- that is exactly how this poem feels to me as well.

"Flypaper dreams."
If I could only break free and float on gossamer silk.
I read they can travel for 25 days with not sustenance and have been found in atmospheric air samples at 16,000 feet.
I've dreamed, as the late Douglas Adams suggested, that I forget I can't fly and then I do.
It's a wonderful dream.
It's truly just letting go.
