s, this is a song i wrote for my anniversary.  we are putting it to music and i would love any takes you have...

peace,
bish

i no longer cactus

eight summers ago tanya said so
when you settle in off the 10
invite the hills into the bay
fourth of july welcome to LA

off the grill your speckled trout
stumbled around
something about
where have you been
and
when
you leaned back
i faced down

i forgot how to say
how to cook
i learned how
to mulholland drive
to blame it on you
your closed eyes
your pinstripped
fridays
your rearviews

eight summers ago tanya said so
when you settle in off the 10
invite the hills into the bay
fourth of july welcome to LA

i still wreck when i 6th
and ocean
because of you
your lips
your shadow
i no longer cactus
i succulent
mostly melon
occasionally
i practice

i ponder the train rides
the slow way home
down the mississippi
hooped skirts
etouffee
where we land if we land
who cares
lost or found
we are welcome in azzurri

eight summers ago tanya said so
when you settle in off the 10
invite the hills into the bay
fourth of july welcome to LA
now was always better than then

Cy, so sorry I missed this post.  I'm just seeing these messages today after checking back in to Tin Roof after who knows how long.  This poem is wonderful, as if I could ever critique your work, come on now.
