Haunting
« on: April 21, 2012, 09:30 PM »
His eyes were old medallions
he taught me  Spanish
and we quibbled over French

We never made love,
but we did.
He wept day and night
called  shadows ancient  monks
who were sent to include him in evening prayers
but he never prayed. He refused God.
As hard as I tried to convince him
to believe, I'm not sure he ever did.
Just a smile and when he smiled,
his lips opened like an island
surrounded by beard
and I found yet another place to touch
He translated what was silent inside me.
I still see him at midnight,
revolver in  hand, whirling, sideburns in sweat
damn ghosts come to take me out,
protect the commander at all costs,

he grumbled.
I'll kill 'em, every last one.
But he already had.

BOOM! What was that? The sound of you wooing me, Kay..

That is definitely "Poem of The Day"

You should enter that in the IBPC

of ghosts and dead men
where was God when he
did them in?
unrepentant anger
lost to sin.

Hi, Kay, wonderful Poem of the Day! I don't often respond in poetry to ppl's posts. These words came to me as I finished reading. No doubt an unpopular comment for some, it's the mention of the word 'sin', no one likes to read or hear it... ~ shrugs

I can tell you like it! I really appreciate the comment and enthusiasm. I mean, I just wrote it earlier this evening. No blood, sweat or well, maybe a few tears.

but really thanks. I'll take a fresh look at it in the days to follow.  :apple

I might just enter it. Have not thought about IBPC much of late.

It's Matt, right? Well, Matt, thank you so much for the encouragement.

This one, is just too personal for that right now. Maybe someday.

(no one's going to chop up these tender memories is what I'm kind of saying)

but I so appreciate your kind reply.
