Having read other works, I have to say this one escapes me. I am a minimalist and I will give you that. However, I don't have enough meat here to chew on.

Bernie,

The first time I met my husband he was wearing white shoes and my two sisters
laughed at him as Dad hustled them out the back kitchen door.
 So, the poem truly resonated with me.

I kept thinking

sliipped into white shoes

as I tend to think of pugtting "on" a coat, jacket, pants, but not shoes. Probably my own
take on the whole phrase. Love the contrast and the memorable feel.
