Going Back
« on: October 30, 2011, 06:08 PM »
You finally left for the town of no stoplights.
Herein you grew before growing
was something people did, before
people raised kids - they just grew into other people
supported by memories of soil and lake,
long afternoons flicking bugs
off juicy mangoes with tart fingers, enjoying briefly
the sunshine the body wouldn't withstand.

Most nights, my heart
is tremulous and quivers
beneath my bones. It is
a whisper now, in my breast;
something like
virgin snow on a winter morn,
a bruise proffered to the sun, a flutterby
on the other side
of yesterday.

Sometimes, I feel the past and the future pressing so hard on either side that there's no room for the present at all. - Evelyn Waugh
It has been a time of growth and grief, joy and contentment. Pleasure is a temptation, but I'm growing up despite myself. For now, I'm here. I make no promises, to do so would be to tempt fate.
Instead, I'm going to hang around, near the door, perhaps - but somewhere that I can safely scatter the words. As of today, my twelvemonth of silence is broken and they are pouring, rich and deep. I still hold them close, they are precious.

Life isn't about waiting for the storms to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.

I agree with Witt, its great to see you again.
Stop looking at the light. Instead, look at what is being illuminated by the light.

Dear Doc,  missed you, missed your poetry and commentary  :rose
Your poetry wraps around me. I feel the experiences as if they were mine, yours, universal..three dimensional maybe.
Good to read you Arti.

B,

It is lovely to hear from you.
Glad you like the verse.
I have missed being here, the interactions, the shared joy of words in strings.

Arti, I know you haven't been in here for awhile but I wanted to let you know that I no longer have my Facebook page. So I hope to see you posting soon so that I can keep up with you and your poetry. I  just didn't have time for FB anymore  :comfort
