men came walking
a day before the sun
every one of them
held a single stone
love wandered by
wearing a purple cloud
what must one do
to join the merry crowd?

SOO perb! So simple yet it says so much!

Might I suggest?

wearing a purple cloud

Now you have perfect rhyme.

Perfection cannot be improved upon.
Reminds me of Bilbo Baggin's Eleventieth birthday party,
when Gandalf showed up with his bag of magic tricks.
Looking forward to more from you!
