We probably shouldny  tell anyone how they should write,
no matter how sleezy some poetry can be

Nightsongs,

no, we shouldn't and we're not, at least I'm not, the topic is about
definition,
discussing the differences, what the erotica forum is, what they are for: their guidelines,
ones that were set by Rg, not "how" those should write.
I don't have the energy to try to change the way anyone writes.
There's probably a place for just about anything, somewhere, online.

WRITERNMT: I resound with your stated aim to enjoy the getting there not to be too aim oriented. I liked your poem. It was very graphic but in a teasing and artistic way rather than just having sex in it to prove you can. But what you ask is whether sometimes less graphic stuff can be erotic. Definately! Stuff that hints and teases and seduces.

These days sex in its crudest form is easy to find. Erotica for me is something that reminds you to stop and enjoy the sex not just do it. Porn is just about doing it. I think maybe erotica is more respectful too - of the self, the other/characters and even of the reader. This is just what I think. But seeing what poetry affects me in different ways is interesting
slight imperfections in my personality are NOT to be considered flaws but show that i am handmade and of the highest quality.

Erotica is like a warm bath. You want to soak forever. Sex is like the wrinkles
that come when you eventually realize the water is cold. I'd forgotten about
this thread. Twenty lashes with a wet noodle for me.  ???

It's funny how some people treat erotica and pornography the same, some revere the art form, others shy away from both.  Obviously it means different things to different people.  I think porn can be artistic, just as erotica can be just as absurd as the pizza delivery man showing up to the two buxom blondes door step and wouldn't you know they don't have money for a tip.   Still....I will offer my own definition.

Pornography is self gratification for the physical, Erotica is self gratification for the cerebral...it is masturbation of the mind.

You come on like a bloodstained hurricane
Leave me alone, let me be this time
You carry on like a holy man pushing redemption
I don't want to mention, the reason I know

- Disturbed
